Rare Shape Floral and Moth Pattern Patty Pan c1768

£450.00

Out of stock

An 18th century Lowestoft porcelain rare shaped patty pan, hand painted with a floral and moth pattern c1768.

The pan measures 9cm in diameter and stands 4.5cm tall.

It is in great display condition without cracks or staining. There are three small areas of professional restoration to the rim, these can not be seen when on display.

Unmarked.

An example of this shape patty pan can be found in Variety in Lowestoft porcelain by Margaret Corson on page 45. She states that these dishes are often stained and cracked as the where used in the oven.

A similar example (slightly wider foot) can be found in Lowestoft porcelain by G A Godden plate 110.

This is the 1st example I have personally seen in 15 years of collecting Lowestoft.
