A Lowestoft soft paste porcelain coffee cup, hand painted with the Sunflower pattern c1764-65. This pattern was used until c1770, but this handle shape wasn’t used after 1765. See British blue and white saucers, by Steven Goss pg 182, where this pattern is discussed.
The cup measures 7.7cm in diameter including the handle, and stands 6cm tall.
The cup displays very well, but has a 9cm curved crack running from the rim, this stops at the base of the handle. The handle is not damaged. There are no chips or any restoration.
Marked inside the foot with an 8.
