A very rare Worcester teacup in the style of Meissen, hand decorated with a floral pattern c1757-60.
See I.E.29A in Worcester blue and white porcelain by Bryant, French and Sandon where the blue and white version of this pattern is discussed. It stats that the cup is a direct copy of a Meissen cup of the period, down to the shape of the rim and handle. The crossed swords and 9 mark to the base is also imitating Meissen. The blue and white cup shown was also in the collection of Geoffrey Godden as was this polychrome example.
The cup measures 9.6cm in diameter including the handle and stands 4.5cm tall.
In excellent display condition with a professionally restored chip to the rim. There is no other damage or restoration.
Ex Geoffrey Godden and Geffrey Sell collections.
