A Very rare first period Worcester yellow ground tea cup and saucer, c1770.
The tea cup measures 10.2cm (4″) in diameter including the handle and stands 5.3cm (2 1/16″) high.
The saucer measures 13cm (5 1/8″) in diameter.
Both parts are undamaged and without restoration. There is wear to the decoration and gilding especially to the saucer from use (please click on images to enlarge).
Both marked with the crossed swords 9 mark.
A trio with this mark and pattern was sold at Bonhams 5th September 2005 for £16,200
