An 18th century Lowestoft porcelain food warmer, moulded with shell handles and two male masks. Hand decorated with floral vines in underglaze blue c1765-70. This item is only the base section, the middle and cover along with the burner are missing.
For a similar item see the Watney sale part II pg 80 lot 609. A complete example can be seen in Lowestoft in the Norwich castle museum by Sheenah Smith.
The item stands 16.1cm tall and is 12cm in diameter across the base.
Marked to the inside of the foot but this has run.
It displays very well with a small chip to one of the shells and a stable crack running from the rim.
