Very Rare House and Mountain Pattern Breakfast Sized Teacup c1785-90

A Very Rare 18th century Lowestoft soft paste porcelain teacup, hand painted in underglaze cobalt blue with the House and mountain Pattern c1785-90.

Teacups in Lowestoft porcelain are extremely rare in there own right. This Larger sized breakfast size example is the only example I have come across. A standard size teacup can be found in the Norwich castle Museums collection Longbridge and House Pattern Teacup c1770-75 There is not an example within the Victoria and Albert museum’s collection.

The teacup measures 11.8cm in diameter including the handle (10cm without the handle) and stands 4.8cm tall.

It displays as perfect without chips. There is a professionally restored hairline crack running from the rim (to the left of the house).

Ex Ian and Susi Suterland collection.
