A good Worcester two-handled porcelain Caudle cup and saucer printed with the Worcester Temple pattern c1780
See BFS 11.B.11 for a discussion on this pattern.
The cup stands 6.9cm tall and measures 10cm in diameter.
The Stand measures 14.5cm in diameter.
Chip to the bottom of one of the handles. No other damage or restoration.
This example is marked to the base of both cup and saucer with a so called disguised numeral mark which can be found on a number of these printed patterns dating from c 1780 – 1790. Originally these marks were thought to indicate Caughley porcelain but research by Geoffrey Godden proved that these wares are actually of Worcester origin.
