Rare Tobacco Leaf Pattern Coffee Cup and Saucer c1775-80

A rare Lowestoft coffee cup and saucer, hand decorated in underglaze blue and overglaze red and gold, with the Tobacco Leaf pattern c1775-80.

The Coffee Cup measures 7.7cm in diameter including the handle and stands 5.8cm tall. There is a flea bite chip to the rim and a very fine hairline to the right of the handle (probably due to firing)

The Saucer measures 12cm in diameter. There are stilt marks to the rim from manufacture and slight wear to the pattern from age and usage.

Both parts are marked inside the foot with a Workman’s mark.
