Mandarin Speared Bird Pattern Small Mug c1780

A Lowestoft porcelain mug, hand painted in coloured enamels with a Mandarin pattern c1775-85.

The mug measures 10cm in diameter including the handle and stands 9.1cm tall.

It is in undamaged condition. The mug has two holes in the glaze from manufacture, that have allowed moisture into the paste. This has caused the staining. The pattern is VERY bright and the gilding in good order. An excellent example of a rare patterned Lowestoft mug.
