Category:

A Bow three legged sauceboat, hand painted in underglaze blue with the Desirable residence pattern c1753-55 (see page 72 of British porcelain sauceboats of the 18th century by Nicholas paynes). This pattern can also found on teawares of a slightly later date (see British porcelain blue and white saucers by Steven Goss).

The sauceboat measures 17.8cm in length including the handle by 8.6cm wide and stands 10.2cm tall at the handle.

It displays well, but has faults. There is damage to the two back feet, two chips to the rim (the larger is 7mm in diameter. Both of these look to be caused by firing cracks from manufacture, as the hairlines associated with these chips do not go through the body to the inside). The handle has also been broken off and fixed with staples.

Unmarked.

A Bow three legged sauceboat has been on my wish list for over 10 years. This is my first example and is priced reflecting the damage. We have a chicken in the fridge and now a sauceboat for the gravy.
