A Very rare Worcester porcelain first period chocolate cup and saucer, hand painted in underglaze blue with the Departing Chinaman pattern, C1757.
The cup measures 10.2cm (4 7/32″) in diameter not including the handle and stands 7cm (2 6/8″) high.
It is in great display condition, with only a restored chip to the rim and a very fine crack running from this to the base.
The saucer measures 16.4cm (6 7/16″) in diameter. It has a long crack running from the rim, this was secured with staples but these have been removed and the holes filled, there is also a small section missing from the rim.
At the time of writing the Worcester patterns book, No cup was known.
