Very Rare Sunflower Pattern Toy Teapot and Cover c1762-63

£1,295.00

Out of stock

An 18th century Lowestoft porcelain toy teapot and cover, hand painted in underglaze cobalt blue, with the sunflower pattern c1762-63. Some like to call these miniature wears, personally I think they are toys. My Grandfather purchased Lily a toy tea set (none left) when she was small, we played tea parties with them and her dolls. What a fantastic gift to a young child.

The teapot measures 12cm in diameter and stands 7.3cm tall with the cover in place.

It displays very well, but has a firing crack to the handle and a 18mm crack to the spout. The cover has two tiny chips to the flower petals, a 7mm chip to the underside of the rim, and two small areas to the rim missing glaze.

Marked to the foot rim with an 8 (workman’s mark)
