An 18th century Lowestoft porcelain leaf moulded pickle dish, hand painted in onglaze coloured enamels with a floral pattern c1768-70.
The dish measures 9.4cm in diameter by 10.7cm long including the stork.
It is in great display condition without chips or restoration. There is a 2.5cm fine hairline crack to the left side (see the last picture bottom middle)
Polychrome pickle dishes are extremely rare as the acid in the pickle ate into the onglaze coloured decoration. There are no coloured Lowestoft pickle dishes in the Victoria and Albert or Norwich Castle museums.
