Very Rare Pagoda and House Pattern Lozenge Shape Teapot and Cover c1800

£2,955.00

Availability: In stock

An extremely rare fluted lozenge shape teapot and cover decorated in underglaze blue with a Chinese Landscape pattern c1800. Made at Lowestoft in the final years of the factories production. This shape Lowestoft teapot is very rare with any decoration but is most commonly found decorated with Redgrave or gilded patterns. This example is the only known example decorated in blue and white.

It measures 26.5cm in length including the handle and spout, 13cm in diameter and stands 11.7cm tall at the spout.

Displays very well with undamaged handle and cover. There is a hot water stress body crack running from the base of the spout across the base and forking upwards by the handle and through to the other side. This has been secured with glue to the inside but could be professionally restored if you wished.

Unmarked.
