£1,200.00

Availability: In stock

A Very rare 1st period Worcester porcelain teapot and cover of angular shape, hand painted with the Mansfield pattern c1756-58.

The Teapot measures 14.5cm in diameter including the handle and spout, and stands 9.5cm tall with the cover in place.

Excellent condition, except for a flea bite chip to the tip of the spout and small shallow chip to the rim of the cover. There are also two tiny chips to the flower petals of the finial.

Marked below the handle with a workman’s mark.

Very few examples of this shape are recorded. Another, also in ‘Mansfield’ pattern, from the Shand Kydd collection is illustrated by Henry Sandon, Coffee Pots and Teapots, pl. 85. An enamelled example of the shape is at Williamsburg museum.

See the Zorensky collection part 1 lot 285.

Another example also sold at Bonhams.
