Very Rare Chelsea Fluted Meissen Harbour Scene Style Decorated Cup c1752

A vey rare early Chelsea porcelain fluted cup with flattened scroll handle and fluted rim with a painted brown line border c1752.

Decorated in the style of Meissen porcelain with a well painted scene of a harbour adjacent to a town with various shaped buildings set in trees. There is a single sailing boat moored with two figures in the foreground and the masts of two more larger ships can be seen on the other side of the harbour. The reverse of the cup shows a large multi-coloured butterfly beautifully painted and inside the cup is a small, delicately painted flower spray.

There are three typical Chelsea stilt marks to base.

The cup measures 9.5cm in diameter including handle and stands 6.5cm tall.

Small chip to the inside of the rim, no cracks or restoration.
