Seth Pennington Floral Pattern Moulded Pickle Dish c1780-90

An uncommon 18th century Liverpool porcelain moulded pickle dish. Made by Seth pennington, and hand painted with a floral pattern c1780-90.

The dish measures 15.6cm in length including the handle by 9.6cm in width, and stands 3.1cm tall when place on its feet.

It is in good condition without cracks or restoration. There are two shallow chips to the rim (the largest is 4mm in diameter).

Unmarked.

For an example of this shape, see page 413 of Liverpool Porcelain by Maurice Hillis 1756-1804.

There are no Pickle dishes of this shape within the Victoria and Albert Museum. This is the 1st example I have handled, usually finding them in shell shape.
