An 18th century Lowestoft soft paste porcelain patty pan, hand painted in blue with a flowers and Moth pattern, C1765-70.
The pan measures 7.8cm in diameter and stands 2.6cm high.
Patty pans in this pattern are more commonly found with diameters of 10cm+ The smaller examples are earlier and much rarer.
It is in great display condition with no chips or restoration. There are two hairline cracks running from the rim, the longest running from the rim to the centre of the base. There are two unglazed areas to the underside of the rim from manufacture, these are not chips.
For an example of a Lowestoft Patty pan of a larger more common size, part of the Victoria and Albert museum’s collection.
