An 18th century Worcester porcelain coffee cup, made as a replacement for a Chinese service. Hand decorated with onglaze colours and gilding c1768-70.
The cup measures 8.2cm in diameter and stands 6.5cm tall.
It is in excellent display condition, but has a filled chip to the rim (mainly to the inside) and a 9cm stained crack.
Unmarked.
A sparrow beak milk jug in this pattern was sold at Bonhams, part II of the Zorensky collection lot 82. It made £741 excluding vat. This can also be found on page 186 of Worcester porcelain 1751-90 The Zorensky collection by Simon Spero and John Sandon.
This cup was a birthday gift to Vanzoi from me.
