Mandarin Pattern Sparrow Beak Cream Jug c1765

A Worcester porcelain sparrow beak jug finely hand painted in polychrome enamels with 3 Chinese mandarin style figures in a garden setting c1765.

The jug measures 8.3 across from lip to handle and stands 8.5cm tall.

Condition is excellent with no chips, cracks or restoration.

Unmarked.

The Worcester factory created a large number of mandarin patterns generally copied from earlier Chinese imports. Though very few were exact copies of known patterns the strong influence of the oriental wares is obvious.

The base has a paper label from the the Brian Haughton Gallery.
