An excellent Worcester coffee cup with a grooved loop handle decorated in bright polychrome enamels with a single oriental lady sitting in her garden. The reverse decoration shows an angled fence with flowering plants painted in the fashion of Japanese kakiemon style
c1770-75.
This combination of probably a Chinese lady in a Japanese garden setting is most unusual and harks back to the kakiemon decoration on Worcester porcelain of the early 1750’s some years earlier.
The cup stands 6.2 cm tall and measures 7.9 cm across including the handle.
Condition is excellent with no chips, cracks or restoration.
