A Liverpool sparrow beak jug, hand painted in onglaze colours with a Mandarin Ladies With a Fan Pattern, C1770-75.
I believe this jug to be Liverpool porcelain, due to the thick bluey green glaze. Attributing it to a factory is somewhat harder. I think it is John Pennington, but if anyone has any idea’s please let me know.
The jug measures 8cm (3 1/8″) in diameter and stands 8.6cm (3 3/8″) high.
It is in good display condition, with only a slither chip to the tip of the beak and a flea bite to the left of this. There is no cracks or restoration.
