James Giles Spotted Fruit Pattern Teapot, Cover and Stand, C1770.

£895.00

Availability: Out of stock

A Worcester porcelain teapot, cover and stand. Hand painted with the Spotted fruit pattern by James Giles C1770.

The teapot measures 22.4cm (8 13/16″) in diameter including the spout and handle, and stands 18.3cm (7 3/16″) high with the cover in place.

The stand measures 14.6cm (5 6/8″) in diameter.

All parts display very well. The stand has no damage or restoration but has slight ware from use to the gilding. The cover is also in great condition with no damage or restoration, except for a small chip to the flower finial. The body of the teapot has restoration to a hot water crack which runs from the left side of the spout (about halfway to the handle), across the top of the spout and down and across the base. The restoration is so good that you can not tell without a bright light.

The body of the teapot is marked with a crossed swords 9 mark, the cover and stand are unmarked but the stand has a paper label from the Hanscombe collection.
