An early Lowestoft porcelain patty pan, hand painted with a large moth and floral border c1764-66.
The pan measures 8.2cm in diameter and stands 2.7cm deep.
Excellent condition. The pattern has ran into the glaze during firing.
Marked to the inside of the foot with a workman’s mark 3.
Patty pans aren’t uncommon but they are usually found in the brighter blue of the 1770’s and of a larger size. This early small size pan is rare.
