A rare octagonal Worcester cup of small size with scroll handle and curled thumb rest, hand painted with alternating panels of oriental flowers, and colourful insects. The larger moth appearing to be chasing the smaller, lower insect in flight. Handle less beakers are also known in this size but they are extremely rare.
The cup measures 7.4cm in diameter including the handle and stands 5.5cm tall.
The cup displays very well. There is a firing crack running down one of the vertices, this doesn’t go through the glaze on the outside. There is also a filled rim chip to the inside and a 6.5cm curved hairline running from this.
Unmarked.
