Early Floral Sprays Pattern Hexagonal Creamboat c1760-65

£375.00

Availability: In stock

A first period Worcester porcelain creamboat of hexagonal shape, transfer printed in underglaze blue with The Early Creamboat Sprays pattern c1760-65.

This pattern was amongst the first printed floral patterns used on Worcester porcelain and can sometimes be mistaken for hand painting due to the quality of the print. This pattern can also be found, though very rarely on small butterboats.

See Branyan, French and Sandon Page 362/63 11.C.1 for a discussion on the pattern.

The piece is marked to the base with a hatched crescent

The Creamboat stands 4.8 cm tall and measures 10.9 cm across including the scroll handle.

Condition is very good with just a tiny chip to the rim, no cracks or restoration.
