An 18th Century English porcelain ewer, made c1768-72 in Lowestoft. The Dolphin ewer is decorated with a floral pattern and black line rim.
The ewer measures 9.2cm in diameter including the spout and handle and stands 7.1cm tall to the top of the handle.
It is in good display condition, but has some faults. There are two firing cracks (either side where the spout joins the body). These have spread and the longest is 3.5cm (however you will need strong light to see this). There is some staining to the paste (mainly to the lip), and kiln speckling to the glaze.
There are no examples of this pattern in the Victoria and Albert or Norwich castle Museum collections.
