A Worcester porcelain leaf shaped dish decorated in polychrome enamels with the Beckoning Chinaman pattern c1760-65.
The dish measures 25.7cm in width by 19.3cm.
Professional restoration to a short crack running from the rim to the foot. There is also an unrestored flea bit chip to the rim.
Unmarked.
The Beckoning Chinaman pattern on this dish was first used at Worcester in the mid-1750’s and usually found on bell shaped mugs and tankards with a large well painted spray of flowers to the reverse. This later leaf dish has instead, incorporated two additional Chinese ladies, one seated, by a garden table. The Beckoning Chinaman is also found on large Liverpool teapots made by Phillip Christian and of similar date to this dish.
