An 18th century Worcester soft paste porcelain teabowl and saucer printed with the Argument pattern c1780.
Used on many different wares, this pattern is a very complex design with the name coming from the two figures seen through a window appearing to be shaking their fists at each other.
See Branyan, French and Sandon Pg 338 11.B.10 for further discussion on this pattern.
Both teabowl and saucer are marked to the base, the tea bowl with a disguised numeral and the saucer with a hatched crescent.
The saucer measures 12.1cm in diameter and the teabowl stands 4.8cm tall and measures 7.5cm across.
Condition is excellent with even the gilding showing little signs of wear.
