My Grandfather started my Mum collecting blue and white in the 80’s when I was small. I would buy her anything I found that was blue and white (now I know it was junk). She died when I was 12, and all her treasures where sold, except for some that my Aunt squirreled away. When I was 30 my Aunt allowed my Brother and I the boxes, one item each until they where all picked. My Aunt told me the porcelain was the most valuable, so I chose that while my Brother sentimental items. I picked 31 pieces of Early English, which I proudly displayed on an Ikea bookcase. My Grandfather and I used to have lunch the 1st Sunday of the month, and as he had started my Mum, I asked if he would help me identify my pieces as his labels had fallen off. While doing this I said “I’d love to make my living dealing in this” He said “you can’t, you will never find enough” Challenge excepted and onto ebay I went. Buying the odd teabowl etc when I could afford, and selling them to buy better items such as teapots etc. A Year later he died, and in both their memory’s my website was launched.
