An 18th century Lowestoft soft paste porcelain coffee cup. Hand painted with a mandarin pattern, I’ve called the parrot and butterfly pattern c1775-85.
This cup Dates to c1780 due to the tomes of the colours used. Usually Lowestoft Mandarin pattern lose their eyeys and there are signs of wear to the enamels from use. This is one of my favourite Lowestoft patterns and this example is the nicest I’ve seen.
The cup measures 8.1cm in dimeter including the handle and stands 5.8cm tall.
It is in amazing condition for a cup that is 240 years old. Showing very little wear to the pattern. There is also no damage or restoration. The only fault is a manufacturing one to the foot, which has caused slight staining to the paste.
