A rare set of graduated Lowestoft porcelain mugs, hand decorated in underglaze blue c1770-75.

Godden Writes “It would appear from the few surviving sets that mugs were originally made in sets of graduated sizes. Some where inscribed with names and dates and others with stock patterns”

Large Mug This mug measures 12.8cm in diameter including the handle and stands 14.6cm tall. It is In good condition except for a fine crack to the base. There is no other damage or any restoration.

Medium Mug This mug measures 11.1cm in diameter including the handle and stands 11.4cm tall. Also in good condition. There is a fine glaze crack to the base that doesn’t go through the body. No other damage or restoration.

Small Mug This mug measures 9.5cm in diameter including the handle and stands 9cm tall. It has Two chips to the inside of the rim with cracks running down from both. There is also a chip to the outer rim. This could be professionally restored if you wish.

All three mugs are unmarked.
